Illustrations are created specifically for their intended purpose and are designed to communicate complex information in a clear, consistent and visually engaging way. They follow a simplified visual language based on defined shapes, corporate colours and a consistent level of detail.
Corporate colours should be used wherever possible to ensure visual consistency across all applications. Existing icons and symbols may be reused, provided they are adapted to the PreAnalytiX visual system where necessary. Depending on the content and level of detail required, illustrations may be created with or without outlines.

Laboratory consumables are represented through simplified geometric forms and a reduced level of detail. Wherever possible, outlines are omitted to maintain a clean and contemporary appearance. Corporate colours provide differentiation between tube types, sample materials and processing steps, ensuring consistency and recognisability across all illustrations and workflows.

To ensure clarity and consistency, people are illustrated using simplified silhouettes and reduced forms. Corporate colours highlight relevant anatomical structures, interactions, and areas of focus. For more detailed representations, an outline version with 80% black lines can be used.

Focus elements highlight important details within an illustration. A circular zoom area enlarges selected sections, making complex interactions or critical process steps easier to understand while maintaining the overall context. Corporate colours can be used to further direct attention to relevant information.

Workflow diagrams visualise processes, dependencies and data flows through a clear visual hierarchy. Simplified pictograms, defined connectors and a consistent reading direction ensure clarity and easy comprehension. Corporate colours highlight key process steps and relationships, while all labels and descriptions follow the typography rules defined in the corporate design.

Instead of using the corporate colour palette, neutral presentations use grey tones to create a more generic and reduced appearance. This approach shifts the focus towards form and function, all the while maintaining consistency within the illustration system.

When a stronger product reference is required, photographic product images can be integrated into 2D illustrations. The combination of real imagery and graphic elements links products with applications, workflows, or scientific concepts while maintaining a consistent visual appearance through the use of corporate colours and illustration styles.
Icons facilitate language-independent communication, enabling information to be understood quickly and intuitively. Their consistent design and use of corporate colours ensure they are recognisable across all applications. They can be used to represent functions, categories, processes or services, supporting clear visual communication throughout the brand.
